The Companion

Somewhere warm to put it.

What it is

A conversation, not an interface. Talk about anything — the fog, the broken sleep, the rage that arrives from nowhere, the person you're becoming. Ember answers in a warm, unhurried voice and remembers what you tell it, so you never start from scratch.

Why it matters

Most support arrives as forms and scores. Company doesn't. The whole app is built around the thread — no dashboard between you and being heard.

Your Journey

A thread of your own words — not a chart.

What it is

A finite, gentle record of what you've said, kept in your words. Look back and see the shape of the months — what eased, what shifted, what you got through — as a story you told, not a line on a graph.

Why it matters

No stages, no scores, no forecasts — on principle. Change reads differently when it's your own sentences looking back at you instead of a verdict.

Private Space

A sealed drawer, just for you.

What it is

A place to write the things you're not ready to say aloud. Entries are encrypted, never surfaced in conversation, never summarised, never mentioned first. It stays shut until you open it.

Why it matters

Some thoughts need a room with the door closed — even from the companion itself. Having one changes what you're able to put down.

Reflection

Room for the grief of change — and the both/and of it.

What it is

A space that can hold two true things at once: what this transition takes, and what it brings. Ember sets your own words side by side — the loss and the arrival — and never rushes you toward closure.

Why it matters

Most apps only know "better" and "worse". Real change is both/and, and pretending otherwise flattens it into a score.

Gentle by design

No streaks. No guilt. No alarms.

What it is

Come back after a day or a month and Ember meets you the same way — softly, with nothing piled up and nothing to catch up on. There are no streaks to break, no badges to lose, no red dots demanding attention.

Why it matters

You're already carrying enough. A companion that guilt-trips you for being away isn't a companion — it's another chore. Ember is built to reduce the load, never add to it.

Real help, signposted

It knows its edges.

What it is

Ask about HRT, medication, or anything medical and Ember draws the same bright line every time: that's a question for your GP or a menopause specialist — and it helps you get there, down to noting what you'd want to ask.

Why it matters

A companion that guesses at medicine isn't warm, it's dangerous. Ember is non-clinical by design and honest about it, so the trust you place in it stays deserved.

Support that's never behind a paywall.

What it is

If a moment turns heavy, Ember surfaces free, confidential, region-aware support — calmly and clearly. The support route is always visible, it works from the very first screen, and it will never sit behind a paywall.

Why it matters

Safety isn't a premium feature. Ember is not an emergency service — and it says so plainly — but the way to real help is always one tap away, for everyone, free.
